Here you will get the latest information about HHMP’s progress with the COVID-19 vaccine clinic, eligibility requirements and information about how to book your appointment. Please continue reading below. The following explains what happens on the day of your vaccination. Before reading this blog, you may find it interesting reading our earlier blog for context.
Before coming to the COVID-19 vaccine clinic
Please use the government phase 1b eligibility checker to see if you meet phase 1b criteria so you are ready to book online once that becomes available.
Those who do not meet phase 1b criteria, please keep an eye on this website to see when new vaccination phases start.
To facilitate the process, please print the government produced consent form and complete it to bring with you to the COVID-19 vaccine clinic on the day.
If you are a HHMP patient you will have a file already. If you are new to HHMP, welcome, please follow the link to Healthengine to book in our COVID-19 vaccine Clinic where you will also be asked to complete questions for our new patient form.
Otherwise a new patient form is available here which you can print, complete and bring with you or complete electronically and email to reception@hhmp.com.au for our staff to set up a file for you.
At the COVID-19 vaccine clinic
Vaccination will not occur on the ground floor GP area, but rather on the first floor at the COVID-19 vaccine clinic. Stairs from Ryde Road and a lift from the Ryde Road side of the practice are available to the vaccine clinic. All entrances will be signposted in due course; Orange for COVID-19 and Yellow for Flu. There will be no need to attend downstairs at all, simply go upstairs and follow the signs to the Vaccination Hub.
At the vaccination hub you will be greeted by our COVID-19 vaccine clinic administrator who will make sure all your paperwork is ready. She will then direct you to a waiting area to wait for our nurses. Consent and vaccination will occur in a private room before your follow-up appointments are made and you are directed to a post-vaccination waiting area.
After your vaccination
The post vaccine wait will initially usually be 15 minutes or 30mins for those at higher risk of reactions. Your nurse will set a timer for you and during your post-vaccine wait time you will not be able to leave the vaccine hub due to the need for monitoring. Information will be available in multiple locations around the COVID-19 vaccine clinic about side effects and symptoms you need to monitor.
When your wait time is finished, you will be given your vaccine card and appointments for any further doses. We expect the whole process to take under 1 hour. You are then welcome to go home after collecting one of our post-vaccination information sheets.
COVID-19 vaccine is free
COVID-19: The vaccine is free as per government criteria, so there is no need to go downstairs for payment. Once you have completed your post vaccine waiting period, you can simply proceed home. Those without Medicare cards can have free COVID-19 vaccinations at respiratory clinics.
Flu vaccine is free for eligible people
Influenza (Flu): The vaccine is free to those over 65, under 5, pregnant women or those with serious chronic conditions (government criteria). Those who do not fit the above criteria will be considered as private and will need to pay $30 for the flu vaccine following vaccination.
Influenza (Flu) vaccination will also occur upstairs at the vaccination clinic.
